Choosing a wood pellet supplier is rarely just about price per ton. Buyers placing recurring orders — for industrial boilers, co-firing programs, or export distribution — need confidence that a factory can actually deliver the volume and consistency a contract requires. That confidence usually comes from seeing the facility itself: what raw material it will run on, how the production line is laid out, and what quality checks will be in place before a shipment leaves the gate.

This article is a construction update on PT Haafa Wirama Lestari's new wood pellet manufacturing facility in Temanggung, Central Java. The building is complete and machinery installation is underway, with production targeted to begin in early August 2026. Why Indonesia Is Building More Wood Pellet Capacity

Indonesia's wood pellet industry has grown on the back of two advantages: abundant wood-processing waste and government support for renewable energy. Sawdust, offcuts, and bark from the country's large furniture and timber industries provide a steady, low-cost feedstock, while national renewable energy targets have encouraged new biomass production capacity across Java and Sumatra.

That combination is why new factories keep opening in wood-processing regions — the raw material is already local, and export demand from Korea, Japan, and increasingly Europe keeps growing.

Facility Overview

The facility is located in Temanggung, Central Java, Indonesia, on a 2-hectare site. Construction of the building is complete, and machinery installation is on track for the line to begin production in early August 2026.

The facility is designed around a continuous production flow: raw material intake, size reduction, drying, pelletizing, cooling, and packing, with quality checks built in at each stage rather than only at the end of the line.

Production Capacity

The line is rated for approximately 5 tons per hour, translating to a planned monthly capacity of around 2,500 metric tons.

Because the line has not yet started production, this figure reflects rated design capacity rather than confirmed output. We'll update this article with actual production figures once the line is running and the first batches have been tested. Buyers should always ask any new supplier forratedcapacity versusactual current output— this distinction matters even more in the first months after a factory begins operating.

Machinery And Production Line

A standard wood pellet production line includes a chipper or hammer mill for size reduction, a rotary or belt dryer to bring moisture down to pelletizing range, a ring-die or flat-die pellet mill, a counterflow cooler, and a packing line for bagging or bulk loading. Installation of this equipment is currently underway at the Temanggung facility, sized to support the line's 5 ton/hour rated capacity.

Raw Material And Feedstock

The line is designed to run on hardwood and albasia (Falcata) sawdust, sourced from logs roughly 8 to 30 cm in diameter and 90 to 120 cm in length. Hardwood species include mahogany and meranti alongside albasia. Albasia is a fast-growing plantation species widely cultivated in Central Java, which supports a more consistent local supply than feedstock dependent on natural forest byproducts alone.

Feedstock sourcing matters more than most buyers initially realize, and it's one of the details worth locking down before a facility's first commercial run rather than after. A facility built around a defined, locally available species like albasia is generally better positioned for consistent year-round supply than one dependent on scattered furniture-industry offcuts alone. A factory relying on a single, distant feedstock source is more exposed to supply interruptions than one sourcing from multiple local processors within a short trucking radius. Ask any new supplier directly where their wood waste comes from and how many suppliers feed the line — a single-source dependency is a legitimate risk factor for large or long-term orders.

The figures above reflect our declared export standard for this product line — the specification we are producing to and will guarantee to buyers. Formal lab testing and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) will be conducted once production begins in August 2026, and each shipment going forward will be accompanied by its own batch-specific COA.

Once production begins, every batch will be tested for moisture, ash content, and calorific value before it is approved for packing. Buyers are welcome to request a lab report from our first test batches once available — a supplier willing to share this data without hesitation is generally a stronger signal of quality control than one that resists the request.

Certifications And Compliance

PT Haafa Wirama Lestari's legal and export documentation is already in place ahead of this facility's launch, including the company's Certificate of Establishment (Kemenkumham RI), Business Identification Number (NIB), and Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), along with standard export documents such as Certificate of Origin, Bill of Lading, and Phytosanitary Certificates issued by Indonesia's Plant Quarantine Agency. Shipments are also supported by Fumigation Certificates meeting ISPM 15 standards, required for markets including Japan, South Korea, and Australia. Quality Control Process

Once production begins, the planned quality control process will test incoming raw material moisture before it enters the dryer, monitor pellet diameter and durability during production, and run a final moisture/ash check before packing against the target specifications above.
